On Sunday 22nd July at the Falcon Hotel John Jacobs was elected President of Shakespeare Lions for 2012/2013.

John Jacobs is the recently retired Managing Director of International Automotive Company Thule Towing Systems Ltd where he held that position for 16 years.

In his acceptance speech he thanked Past President Mike and his wife Wendy for their superb efforts over the last twelve months supporting our local community with a total dedication to the Lions key goal, that of “ We Serve”.

He also announced his team for the coming year including Vice President David Millington

John’s hobbies include Golf, a love of Jazz and playing jazz piano in addition to singing in the style of Frank Sinatra which he has performed many times at various functions over the years.

He is married to Maggie and has 3 children and a granddaughter Mya.

His objective for Shakespeare Lions in the coming 12 months is to further support World Wide Lions Signature Projects but within our local community.

He named The Eye Health and Hearing Programmes along with The Young Leaders in Service Programme as key new introductions.

In addition Shakespeare Lions will as always support many local community organisations and continue major fund raising activities for both Shakespeare Hospice and the Welcombe Hills School for children with learning disabilities and of course the Town’s Carol Service held in Bridge Street..

The next Lions event will be the joint running (supporting Wellesbourne Lions) of the 45th Raft Race from Wasperton to Stratford on Sunday the 16th September.
