Aldridge Lions Community Challenge

Aldridge Lions Community Challenge

Every year students from local secondary schools in Aldridge are invited to compete for the Aldridge and District Lions Community Shield. The award is in recognition of community activities undertaken by school children for the good of their local community.

This year the event was hosted by St Francis of Assisi School in Aldridge, where youngsters from Key Stage 4 and 5 gave short presentations on their work in voluntary services and for charities.

The winners were Nicola Giles (Key Stage 4) from Aldridge School and Jacob Steele (Key stage 5) from St Francis of Assisi.

The overall winner, Jacob, will go on to represent Aldridge and District Lions at the regional final in Solihull in November.

The prizes were presented by Lion President Harry Fry who said, “Each year the members of the Aldridge Lions are impressed by the good work undertaken by the schoolchildren of the area. This year has proven to be no different and we are most pleased to hear tonight of the time and effort given freely by these children.”

Youth Organiser for the Aldridge Lions, Robert Metcalfe, thanked the participants and their schools for their involvement and congratulated all the entrants on their hard work within the community.
