Solihull supports Advocacy

In keeping with Lions ethics to support the most vulnerable people in the community Solihull Lions recently made a donation of £1600 to Solihull Action through Advocacy.

Lion President Alan James said the group were worthy recipients as they empower people who experience discrimination, disadvantage or isolation to speak up for themselves or speak on their behalf because they believe everyone has the right to be respected, valued and heard.

A spokeswoman for the group said: “We are extremely grateful to Solihull Lions for their generous donation. This money will enable us to run a series of confidence building workshops for people with learning disabilities living in south Solihull. The workshops are designed to equip people with leaning disabilities with the skills they need to speak up for themselves and make independent choices and decisions.”
