A busy Christmas for Warwick Lions

The run up to Christmas was particularly busy for Warwick Lions as on Sunday 16th December the Lions, with help from their wives and friends collected tinned food door to door round the town and then took everything to All Saints' Church Hall to date-check, sort and count it - just over 3000 items in all.

They then made up over 173 large parcels in Sainsbury’s Union flag carrier bags, each with a minimum of 15 items, for old and needy people. Most of these parcels were then delivered the same day.

On a previous collection the Lions took someone's clothes pegs from their front door step; this year a bag of motor accessories was gathered up. Please contact Warwick Lions on 01926 492564 giving a description of the contents and the bag will be returned.

This was followed up on Monday 17th, when they joined Lions clubs across Warwickshire in buying a Christmas meal for every Meals on Wheels recipient in their respective areas and helping to deliver these meals.

Finally on Saturday 22nd they helped to run Carols at Warwick Castle jointly with Warwick Rotary Club and the Friends of St. Mary's Church Choir. This spectacular event, held annually in the dramatic surroundings of Warwick Castle, is a highlight of the festive calendar and raises funds of many local causes.
