With just a couple of weeks to go to the start of their annual Christmas Sleigh collection the local Land Rover dealer in Shirley suddenly advised Shirley Lions that they would not after all be able to supply the vehicle to tow the sleigh.
A quick visit to all the car dealerships in Shirley resulted not only in Avonvale Honda agreeing to supply the Lions with a brand new top of the range CRV but they also suggested they could provide a full livery of reindeers in the snow down both sides of the vehicle.
Prior to starting the collection a supply of lollies was purchased for distribution to the children on the routes, in fact 15 tubs with 200 lollies in each. By the end of the final collection there were only about 20 lollies left so just under 3,000 children saw Father Christmas on his rounds.
To top up the Club’s finances £7,064.50 was collected and Honda have already indicated that they would like to provide a vehicle again next Christmas.
