Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions Santa Sleigh

Despite the un-Christmas-like wet weather this year the Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions were out in force again with their Santa Sleigh.

They toured 12 different areas of Stourbridge and Kingswinford in the 4 weekends before Christmas, covering almost 50 miles, ably helped by collectors from many local charities.

On the way thousands of doors were knocked on and Santa and his Elf met hundreds of children and their parents.

During the travels Santa and his Sleigh collected £7250 which will be distributed to the charities which collected with them, at a Presentation Evening to be held at the Stourbridge Institute and Social Club on Monday 28th January 2013.

They also took the Sleigh to static collections at the local Sainsbury’s, Asda and Aldi as well as the Ryemarket in Stourbridge.

Again the weather was not kind (yes, it poured) but the Lions said that they never cease to be amazed at people’s generosity in the current financial climate and collected nearly £1500 which will be distributed to INSIGHT for Carers, Prostate Cancer and Compton Hospice.
