Although weather conditions threatened Shakespeare Lions Charity Dance at the Civic Hall on Saturday 19th January it did not deter those booked to attend this yearly event. With almost a sell-out of tickets dancing was enthusiastically undertaken by all levels of ability to music provided by Todd Miller & the Joe Loss Orchestra.
During the evening donations to the Grand Draw and Raffle contributed to raising money for Shakespeare Lions chosen charities this year which are Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Jennifer Trust. A big thank you to local businesses who donated raffle prizes so generously.
Preliminary figures would suggest that something in excess of £2500 had been raised this year, thanks to all who supported this event.
A dream came true for Shakespeare Lions President John Jacobs when he was invited to sing with Todd Miller and the Orchestra, much to everyone’s enjoyment.
A provisional date has been set for next year’s Charity Dance at the Civic Hall 18th January 2014.
