On the 23rd January the Annual Pantomime was held at the Civic Hall, sponsored by Shakespeare Lions for the enjoyment of people with learning disabilities.

This year’s Pantomime was Sleeping Beauty, performed by the Phoenix Players, one of the longest established amateur drama groups in Stratford upon Avon. Shakespeare Lions organise the evening contacting many local groups and carers in an effort to provide enjoyment for all who attend and give the Phoenix players a rousing dress rehearsal.

Transport and minibuses started arriving well in advance of the performance and the air was filled with the buzz of excitement. Shakespeare Lions President John Jacobs and his wife Maggie were joined for the performance by the Mayor, Councillor Keith Lloyd and his wife.

During the evening a raffle was held, which gave added expectation of a pleasant surprise for some at the conclusion of the evening.

After a very enjoyable evening with plenty of audience interaction it was time for the arrival of transport for the homeward journey. With a successful dress rehearsal completed the pantomime cast were prepared to perform for the next three nights to the general public of Stratford and the surrounding area.
