KNOWLE FUN RUN LAST CHANCE TO ENTER

Organisers of the Knowle Fun Run are expecting the usual last minute scramble to enter for this year’s 30th Knowle Fun Run.

The Knowle Fun Run is one of the Midlands greatest community fundraising events. Already entries are well up on last year for the 5 mile Fun Run with 2 laps on traffic free roads and 2 Mini Runs for the under 9’s. Whilst the Run is not until Sunday 12th May Knowle and Dorridge Lions have to close entries early on Tuesday 7th May to ensure they receive the runners timing chips and numbers in time. There is absolutely no entry on the day.

This year’s event, which will see Solihull Olympic medallist Sally Walton and BBC TV Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen get the runners underway and present the prizes, will raise funds for the Marie Curie Big Build, AgeUK Solihull & St Basil’s as well as local causes. The Lions hope that individuals as well as companies have been getting their efforts sponsored and hope to raise over £40,000 for these worthy causes. Runners finishing the 5 mile run will receive a special ’30 years of running’ commemorative mug.

‘This year the start/finish and mini-runs will return to the playing fields at Arden Academy and as usual we shall close the course to traffic for the 2 hours of the Fun Run, 11.45am to 2pm. Usually huge crowds line the roads create a fantastic atmosphere which attracts many new runners every year,’ says organiser Lion Noel Kinahan. ‘As well as all the usual attractions, trophies and prizes for the winners there will be a special commemorative mug for all finishers. As usual we shall be welcoming runners from all over the country, not just the Midlands. Get online now at www.knowlefunrun.org.uk to ensure your entry’
