Acocks Green Lions Club recently went on a local safari….. into the long grass at Fox Hollies Community Forum to assist with weeding, strimming, digging and other assorted duties that were much needed to get the garden area shipshape for its re-launch and future use by local residents. A request for assistance was made via the community service committee and the call to arms was answered by 10 of the club members who felt that the positive impact the garden will make locally was worth a few hours of physical toil. The incentive of hot drinks and bacon sandwiches may have helped as well. Club President Gloria Hayes said ‘Our links with a local facility such as Fox Hollies are vital, Lions making a difference that can be seen by all is the way forward and we enjoyed it as well‘.
