Bonfire Night makes a tasty profit

Corby & District Lions took over £3000 in the sale of light sticks and other fascinators at the recent Corby Borough Council bonfire night.

The Corby bonfire night is probably the biggest free firework display in the East Midlands and is always a great way for the whole community to come together to enjoy the most spectacular display for miles around.

As in previous years, Corby & District Lions set up two stalls on site from which they sold hand-held flashing LED lights in various designs to eager children who were able to persuade their parents to buy them.

After the last sparkler had withered out and everything was packed away and accounted for, the Lions found they had made a surplus of about £1400 which will be used to support various charities. They then retired to a member’s house for some tasty jacket potatoes and mushy peas.
