“Hats on for a High Tea“

The Royal Garden Party may have taken place earlier this year but the big autumn event in Acocks Green was held at Ninestiles School and Academy on Saturday 19th October. Acocks Green Lions club hosted a tea for local senior citizens where a variety of sandwiches, cakes and unlimited tea or coffee were on the menu. Pupils from the school provided high quality musical entertainment; much appreciated by everyone and showed yet again the depth of talent within our midst. Bingo and raffles followed which allowed some of our guests to leave not only well fed but also well heeled; smiles were indeed beaming. The finale was the judging of the small but quality field of contestants for the ‘Best hat of the day ‘where a worthy winner was eventually picked. Lion Mike Smith, Chair of Community Services said “ this is an activity we have organised for several years now and is always well attended and a pleasure for Lions and guests alike, long may it continue “.
