Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Roll out the Barrel!!!

With the kind co-operation of Warwick Racecourse, the Beer Festivalwww.lionsbeerfestival.co.uk was held last Friday and Saturday in a deluxe marquee featuring candelabras and swags of cream satin fabric.

The Slaughterhouse Brewery based at the Wild Boar, Lakin Rd. www.thewildboarwarwick.co.uk, one of the sponsors the event, provided a raffle prize of a barrel of beer and then manned a table near the entrance to sell the raffle tickets.

Other sponsors were Corio Signs and Printing www.corioprinting.co.uk, who printed the attractive posters for the festival. The Eternal Bride www.eternalbrideuk.co.uk based at 70 Market Place, Mr Karting www.mrkarting.co.uk from Harbury Lane - 01926 833444 and Skidders Black Country Electric & Acoustic - Rock, Blues & Jazz band www.skiddersmusic.com.

Entry cost £5 which included a commemorative glass. There were tables and chairs inside and outside the marquee.

The beers came from Fynn Ales, The Church End Brewery, The North Cotswold Brewery, Wye Valley Brewery and Byatts Brewery.

This year, there was a larger selection of real ciders (apple and pear) from the Old Rosie cider makers.

Entertainment and caterers were provided on both days.

Profits will be divided between Myton Hamlet Hospices and Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Organising Chairman Lion Norman Winnett, who lived on site for the duration, said that the weather was kinder than forecast and there was a steady flow of customers throughout the 2 days. There was very little drink left when the festival closed.

The Lions will be involved in the Warwick Town Bonfire and Fireworks on 5th November, the Victorian Evening on 24th November and Carols at Warwick Castle on 17th December.
