Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

A small event carrying the Lions Message Worldwide

In keeping with LDG Neil's plea to promote Lions Clubs & attract new members, Bedworth lions Club has been doing that for the past 7 out of 8 years. Lion Brian (G8GMU) has opened his home to the public during January with a display for Lions Clubs international, supported by amateur radio. This year the opening ceremony was conducted by the Deputy Mayor Cllr John Haynes, this event becomes more strange, as there is a residential complex named after Cllr John, an amateur radio station was established at John Haynes Court & he was able to talk with someone at the building named after him, whilst the residents listened to the transmissions in the lounge. Contacts were made by GB4BLC (GB4 Bedworth lions Club) in the UK and on 4 continents. During the event we had guest operators come to activate the station, Lion President Martin is also licensed (G1ZSR). GB4BLC is due to be in action again on the 1st July from Bramcote Open Day, supported by members of the Coventry amateur Radio Society. Please do not confuse amateur radio with CB, please Google GB4BLC to look at the PR value of this event. By not using your local amateur radio club with a special event callsign you are missing a promotional opportunity.
