Knowle and Dorridge Lions are pleased to confirm that this years VIP starter for the Knowle Fun Run on Sunday 13th May will be Mary Rhodes.

Mary needs little introduction having been on our BBC TV screens for over 20 years. She is best known for the ten years spent as sports news presenter having covered major events including Olympics, Commonwealth Games, European football, Cricket World Cup and Wimbledon, and now presenting the current affairs programme ‘ Inside Out’ from Birmingham and regular presenter on Midlands Today and the Politics Show.

‘As a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Society I was delighted to be asked to support this year's Knowle Fun Run,’ says Mary who visited Arden this week. It is a cause close to my heart as my mother-in-law was diagnosed with it two years ago. The Knowle Fun Run gives us a great opportunity to really make a difference to those who are living with dementia in the local area.

The Lions confirm that the work constructing the MUGA at Arden school will be completed well before May and they are working with the Principal Martin Murphy to ensure the MUGA will have a minimal effect on the ever popular event.

This year’s Fun Run will raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, Crossroads Care, the local scout groups as well as other locally determined causes. Online entry and full details of the Fun Run & Mini Run can be found at www.knowlefunrun.org.uk
