On 15 May, my husband Tony & I joined other Lions from around the midlands to help with the Disability Games which, this year, took place at Ryland Sports Centre in Bromsgrove. The children and young people involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the field and track events despite the atrocious weather and the fact that at fairly regular intervals we all had to make a mad dash for the sports hall to avoid the torrential rain and hail. We were informed on that day, by the disability games organiser, that the £700 total needed for the Boccia Games to go ahead next January has been raised from donations by several Lions clubs including our own.
