This week, the Aldridge and District Lions Club held their annual Community Service Awards evening at Aldridge School. The event was well supported by students, parents, staff and Lions members. There were 5 presentations from students, ranging from 15 to 18 years old, representing Aldridge, Barr Beacon, Brownhills and St Francis of Assisi Schools. The standard of presentation was excellent and reflected a wide spectrum of involvement by the young people in communities both at home and abroad. Jodie Lewis from Brownhills School won the Key Stage 5 award and Toby Duckworth from St Francis of Assisi School won the Key Stage 4 award and was also voted the overall winner by the judging panel. He will go forward to the District finals to be held in Birmingham on November 28th. |

Lion Bob Metcalfe, Youth Co-ordinator for the Aldridge and District Lions, said, “I felt humbled by the achievements of all 5 youngsters at such early stages in their lives and I wish them well in the future”. All present felt it had been a privilege to listen to the presentations and to understand the achievements of the pupils. The judges had a very difficult task in choosing a winner. |
