Young Ambassadors Final

The Annual MD Final to determine the Winner of the Lions 2010/2011 Young Ambassadors Contest was held again this year at the Village Hotel Dudley.

The Event was organised by MD Young Ambassadors Officer Lion Graham Venables and was assisted by the 13 District Officers to support their District Winners.

The contestants arrived on the Friday afternoon and by Dinner time had become good friends. During the evening the draw was made for the order of interviews for Saturday.

The contestants who were drawn for morning interviews stayed around the Hotel whilst the others were taken Ten Pin Bowling by Dudley Lions.

At lunch time the procedure was reversed.

From about 4.30pm all the finalists got together to prepare for their Cabaret to be performed during the Evening Meal.

Sunday Morning was presentation time with guests including the Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley, President of Dudley Lions Club and the Chair of Council Lion Jacquie Prebble.

After short speeches the MD winner from last year Shane O'Brien (who went on to win again at Europa Forum) spoke of his experiences during the past year.

The Lead Judge then addressed the contestants and congratulated each one for their projects and then announced the winner – 18 year old Ryan Green from Ross on Wye Lions Club District 105W.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust Prise was awarded by Mike Field to 15 year old Alex Doyle from Teesdale Lions Club, District NE.

Unfortunately our District winner, Bethaney Allbright from Malvern, was poorly and had to withdraw from the MD Final.
