Redditch Lions Get Planting 

On the 26th March, our Club joined together with the Redditch Borough Council and it's Landscaping Department in a tree planting exercise.

We planted 500 fruit trees to help Redditch with it's Heart of England in Bloom campaign. All trees are of local species including the Doddin Apple which is native to the town. We managed the job in just over 2 hours and were very glad of a BBQ afterwards run by the local scouts group.

This was a bit of a first for the Club in as much as it hadn't done something like this for a good many years. Very rewarding and quite likely to be repeated in some form or the other in the future.

The Council supplied us with T shirts (unfortunately completely covering our Lions tabards we were wearing) and protective gloves. Both of which we were allowed to keep afterwards.
