Godiva Lions Club Celebrate another Successful Year

At their Annual Charter celebration Dinner Coventry Godiva Lions Club celebrated not just another successful year of fundraising but of Service both locally and internationally.

The dinner was attended by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry in one of their last events before leaving office.

During the evening a cheque for £5001 was presented to Liz Heild towards the Cancer Ward Appeal at the Coventry Walsgrave Hospital.

The Club also celebrated the work they had continued to carry out in India. They are very much hands on with these projects as the pictures show.

President Lion Gita Mistry is shown here visiting the Bhuj Gujarat Children’s the club has supported since the earthquake in 2001. The 36 boys, many of whom are pictured, receive food, clothes, medical care and most importantly an education thanks to the Coventry Godiva Lions Club

During their visit to India, which Club members pay for themselves they also took time to visit an eye camps, paid for by the Club.

The eye camp in Tankal Gujarat dealt with 500 patients and treated some 90 people suffering from cataracts.
