Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Zone D Triumph!

Following on from previous successful Zone Projects, the Clubs in Zone D (Balsall Common, Birmingham Erdington, Birmingham Exhibition, Castle Bromwich, Marston Green & Sutton Coldfield) decided to run a project this Lions year to raise funds for the Foundation for Conductive Education in Birmingham. The target was to raise £1500 so we could sponsor a child for a year at the Institute.

We decided on a video race night, to be held at the Jaguar Sports & Social Club, Castle Bromwich on 9th May. After a somewhat shaky start with all sorts of trials and tribulations, we had a respectable 80 or so people there on the night.

Eight races were run by horses with improbable names, sponsored by each of the six Clubs, plus DG Andy and VDG Femi. The tote was manned by members from the different Clubs and the raffle was handled by Balsall Common.

At the end of the evening we estimated that we had raised around £1500 but, subsequent to the event, when all the accounts had been finalised, we were able to increase this to an amazing £1,750.

Many thanks to everybody who helped to make this year’s Zone Project such a success and well done Zone D!
